Further
information
Believe it or not,
there is more to Florida than Walt Disney and Universal Studios!
There a numerous smaller
attractions in the Orlando/Kissimmee area, details of which may
be found by following the links to the local attractions on the
Links page, or from the literature that you will find in the welcome
pack at the condo.
Within a
short drive is the Kennedy Space Centre
and the beaches of the Atlantic coast,
or one of the older attractions ‘Silver
Springs’ near to Ocala. The crystal clear water of
this location was the scene for many old films, including the
Tarzan films starring Johnny Wiessmuller. It is a good place for
a relaxing day spotting the local Floridian wild life.
If you are
interested in the flora and fauna of Florida, why not take a short
drive over to Citrus County and enjoy
canoeing, snorkelling, diving or even hunting (depending on the
season). If you are lucky you may get to swim with one of the
endangered manatees.
If you have
time to spare you could even consider a trip to Saint
Augustine, between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach on the
Atlantic coast. It is Americas oldest city and is a must for history
buffs.
And of course
no visit to the parks would be complete without a visit to Busch
Gardens at Tampa, it has rides there to rival any of those
at the other parks, and has the added fun of seeing all the animals
you would expect on an African safari.
Even if
you decide to stay within a short distance of our condo we know
that there will be enough to keep you entertained whatever your
tastes. We hope you enjoy your stay, and look forward to you returning
sometime in the future.
Shopping
Apart from all the souvenirs in the Theme Park Shops, don't forget
the American outlets. They are on
every main road and some real bargains can be found, but just
remember that a lot of electrical goods are not suitable for UK
use.
Make time
to visit at least one of the malls - two of the largest are the
Florida Mall (on the junction of
Sand Lake Rd. and Orange Blossom Trail), and Altamonte
Mall (exit 46 off the I4).
